Services expand in Bath and north Somerset

23 June 2010

New supported living and outreach teams are to be introduced in Bath, Keynsham and Radstock in a bid to provide more local and responsive services for people with learning disabilities and autism.
Specialist support provider, Dimensions, has made the move as part of an expansion of its current services in Bath and north east Somerset.

Dimensions will be extending its services, providing tailored support for people with learning disabilities and autism who would like support: to live in their own home; to keep active and healthy; to access community activities; access to voluntary and paid work; or need parenting skills. The three new teams, comprising of 35 specialists, will work closely with individuals and families as well as local organisations to shape the new support services.

Michael Rhodes, Area Manager at Dimensions, explained: "The expansion of our services in Bath and north east Somerset means that we can provide improved support that is more responsive to the needs of the people we support and the local community.

"The move reflects the commitment by Dimensions to providing tailored services that respond to people who have personal budgets and would like bespoke support. We support people in all sorts of settings to do a wide range of different things. We don't offer a standard service – whatever we do is as unique as the person we are supporting."

Dimensions, which is a leading provider of support for people with learning disabilities and autism, currently supports more than 2,300 individuals and their families across England and Wales. It provides support to people in Bath and north east Somerset.

Added Mark Gaffney, a Support Worker, said: "Our supported living teams are committed to supporting and promoting independence for people with learning difficulties at home or with our outreach teams in the community. We are flexible and can accommodate all who need support."
