Queen’s Award for Philip

A massive congratulations to Philip Pearce!

Philip, who we support in Wokingham, has received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service on behalf of CLASP. He has volunteered for the charity for the last 10 years.

Philip receiving his award

CLASP is a self-advocacy group for people with learning disabilities in Wokingham Borough. Philip volunteers as one of their ‘Listen to Us’ trainers, explaining to people what it is like to live with a learning disability – including being the victim of learning disability hate crime. You can learn more about CLASP and the award by watching this video on the CLASP website, starring Philip himself from 4 minutes, 5 seconds in.

Philip and his parents

Philip received the award from the Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Maria Gee, and was accompanied by his proud parents.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK and is the equivalent of an MBE.
