Over £24,000 has been raised for a recreation area for people with learning disabilities and autism. Meet volunteer Hannah, the driving force behind the project.
Hannah started working for Dimensions approximately two and a half years ago as a full time member of the staff team in the S.M.I.L.E. centre.
After a while in her role, she felt able to give some of her time to a voluntary role and that there were more ways she could help try to improve the lives of people we support.
Following a conversation with a former colleague and fellow volunteer, Tess, they put forward an idea to develop an accessible recreational area at Outreach 3Way.
Just over a year later, the fundraising target is now within sight and Outreach 3Way are looking to have the recreation area up and running in autumn 2019.
Help them reach their target. Donate now.
The recreation area will be fitted out with the latest equipment that enables people of all abilities to participate in activities that they are currently missing out on.
Not only will it give the people we support the opportunity to enjoy the outside and participate in regular exercise, it will provide similar benefits to all users. Once installed, Outreach 3Way will actively promote and encourage community participation in the area.
With the support of the wider Outreach 3Way team, over £24,000 has been raised so far and Hannah has been instrumental in making this happen.
Outreach 3Way, based in Crawley, is Dimensions Sussex charity which provides support for people with learning disabilities and autism in East and West Sussex.
“It is a privilege to work and volunteer for Dimensions, the reward is in the joy it gives to the people we support every day. Seeing them enjoy an inclusive, fun day with the support of all the wonderful staff and volunteers.” – Hannah
