Blockbuster effort from film aficionado

Starring movie buff Ciaran Bradley, this heart-warming story follows a determined young man who is uniting the Warrington community through film.

Who’s the star?

Ciaran, 26, has autism and is using his passion for movies to provide a welcoming environment for people who may not be able to afford the bus fare or cinema ticket to attend the cinema. His Autism-Friendly Film Club is held at the Fairfield and Howley Neighbourhood Project each month, with Ciaran picking the theme.

He works with the MacIntyre charity, whose Great Communities project connects with adults in the community who have autism or learning difficulties to help them think about their passions and skills.

What’s the story?

Since joining Great Communities in October 2018, Ciaran has shared his experiences with people in the local area. He recently attended workshops to enable people with disabilities to thrive in their communities, and has shared his perspective at meetings to help shape the future of social care.

Ciaran’s management and facilitation of the film club, along with experience volunteering at a café, has made him even more passionate about seeking employment in the customer service and cinema industries.

His work with the film club has shown him how much it contributes to people’s social opportunities and general wellbeing, as several friendships have been created as a result. The group now has three members over the age of 65, creating an intergenerational community of movie-goers!
