Dear [insert MP name]

Recognising and celebrating the contribution of social care workers

I am writing to you as a constituent in [insert constituency] to ask you to join action to support and celebrate social care workers.

Since the emergence of COVID-19 it has been clear that social care workers are vital to our communities, making sure that the people who are most at risk are shielded safely but also ensuring that people can continue to lead meaningful lives during the pandemic.

The government’s Adult Social Care Action Plan is the beginning of proper recognition for social care workers and the immense contribution that they are making right now and will continue to make beyond the response to COVID-19.

Investment in social care is needed to achieve real parity of esteem between social care and the NHS. Most importantly, investment will ensure that social care workers receive pay that reflects their true value.

Not for profit social care provider Dimensions has launched the Dimensions and Discovery #CoronaHeroes initiative (bit.ly/DimensionsCoronaHeroes) to celebrate the dedication and commitment of those working in social care to the communities that need them.

[You may want to add your thoughts about this issue or explain why the issue matters to you personally e.g. I am a social care worker/I receive social care support/my loved one receives social care support].

I am asking you to:

  1. Support the #CoronaHeroes campaign on your social media channels and celebrate social care workers in your constituency.
  2. Write to the Minister for Care, Helen Whately, calling for an urgent cross party solution to social care funding so that parity of esteem can truly be achieved.
  3. Work with Dimensions to champion social care workers in Parliament going forward.
  4. Scrutinise the delivery of the Adult Social Care Action Plan

Yours sincerely,
