Vue autism friendly screenings
In response to the government’s advice to prevent the spread of Covid-19 Vue has decided to close their venues and cancel scheduled autism friendly cinema screenings.
Vue’s statement about cinema closures
“Since the first news of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have been doing everything we can to provide a high quality, enjoyable and safe big screen experience for our customers.
“However, in line with the UK Government’s latest public health advice, we will be closing all our 91 cinemas in the UK & Ireland from today, March 17, until further notice.
“As you would expect, we are also doing our part by putting employment policies in place so that our staff are protected and are not penalised financially.
“Any pre-existing bookings will be refunded automatically in the month of the scheduled screening. Please continue to follow us on our social channels for the latest updates.
“We want to wish all our customers and employees well during these difficult times. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you back at one of our cinemas soon.”

What makes a cinema screening autism friendly?
Sometimes you might also see an autism friendly screening being described as a relaxed screening or a sensory friendly screening. This means there are some adjustments in place to help reduce the stress and sensory input people with autism and other sensory sensitivities can experience.
Some autism friendly adjustments include:
- There are no trailers
- The lights and volume are turned down
- You can sit where you want and move around
- You can take your own food and drink
- Staff are trained in autism understanding
- Carers can get free entry with a valid CEA Card.
Dimensions provides free online training for every cinema in the UK, and additional support for our partner cinemas; ODEON, Cineworld, Vue, Showcase, Picturehouse and Everyman.
