Darts buddies

Dimensions volunteer buddies help provide extra resources for our dedicated staff. With their help the people we support can do more of the things they enjoy, and meet new people at the same time.

“I’ve always had a keen interest in volunteering, and when I saw an opportunity to be a buddy through Dimensions it sounded like something I’d really enjoy. It’s a nice feeling to know that I’m making a difference in someone’s life, even if it is just for a couple of hours each week.” – Simone, volunteer buddy

When asked about spending time with her volunteer buddy, Vanessa said:

“I get on really well with Simone she is really fun and I look forward to meeting with her to play darts. Simone is really friendly and I got on with her straight away it is nice to have something to do that isn’t with a member of staff, Simone has become a friend to me”

Vanessa’s a keen darts player!

Volunteers like Simone do more than take people places – they help build their confidence, give them something to look forward to and help the people we support to achieve even more.

Simone said:

“I’ve been an active volunteer with Dimensions for almost a year now. I meet up with my buddy, Ness, on a weekly basis and we go to a local pub to play darts. She’s a much better player than I am and always likes to tell staff how she wins every week! In between games we have a drink and a chat about our weeks…”
