Forensic Support: Helping Individuals Thrive

Dimensions provides specialist forensic support for individuals with learning disabilities and/ or autistic people who have, or are at risk of, contact with the Criminal Justice System. Our goal is to help them build safer, independent lives in their communities.

Our unique forensic approach has been developed from a combination of positive behaviour support, attachment/interactive theories, cognitive approaches, teaching and learning theory and humanistic psychology.

Our Impact

  • No individual we’ve supported has been recalled to prison or hospital for the same offense.
  • Aligned with NHS Transforming Care, we support transitions from institutions to living in their own home.
  • Read some of our real-life stories from Henry, Reece, Farid, Keith and Marvin

How We Help

  • Personalised Support: Tailored to individuals’ needs, fostering confidence, empathy, and rehabilitation.
  • Focus on Independence: Support decreases over time, empowering individuals to manage their own lives.
  • Relational Risk Assessment: Encourages self-responsibility and the development of self-control.
  • Everyone referred to Dimensions with an offending history or risk undergoes a specialist forensic assessment process. Getting things right at this stage underpins the effectiveness of everything else, so assessments are comprehensive and thorough.

The assessment also involves meeting current and former support providers, family members/circles of support (if appropriate and agreed by the individual), care managers and professional partners and sometimes people from the criminal justice agencies. This helps us get a much better understanding of the person we are going to support
