Arts and Crafts Volunteer brightens up house with tree mural
Over at Lamb House in Wales, where we support 5 gentlemen, the staff came up with the idea of painting a mural on the side of their wall. They wanted to add some colour and personality to the property and make it more personal to the people we support.
The manager approached the Volunteering team for support, who brought in Kate, our Arts and Crafts Volunteer, who was more than happy to offer her time to paint Lamb House!
Kate liaised with the service to find out what they liked and they chose a beautiful, colourful tree:
Over the course of 2 days, Kate drew an interpretation of this picture and brought it to life on the wall of the house – with a bit of help from Volunteering Officer Becky also!
Kate said:
“I was grateful to have the opportunity to paint this mural for Lamb House. I had so much fun doing it and it’s nice to know that other people will be getting enjoyment from it.
“It turned out even better than I expected and definitely helps to brighten up the space. Hopefully the ducks and chickens enjoy it as much as the people we support.”

Volunteering Officer Becky said:
“The idea of the mural was a fun, creative way to bring some life to the garden and house, to make this wall space cheerful and fun for the people we support – something personal for them.
“Kate, our arts and crafts volunteer agreed to do the mural and shared ideas with the house before they decided on the tree. It was great to be part of this exciting project, to see it from start to finish and the beautiful design that is now there.”
– Becky, Volunteering Officer
Kate has also recently created a video on how to make a ‘raised salt’ painting, which you can enjoy by clicking on this link here. Thank you Kate for your ongoing support!
