Selecting the Coronavirus Learning Disability and Autism Leaders

The Coronavirus Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List is being run in partnership with Learning Disability England and the Voluntary Organisations Disability Group.

Judging will take place in summer 2020. It will be fair and impartial, each judge’s decision is final.

There will be at least 6 judges who represent people with learning disabilities and/or autism, or carers.

In addition to this, there will also be a number of judges to help make decisions where there is a conflict of interest or a “tied” place.

Entries will be shortlisted down to 40 finalists and divided into two selections of 20 stories.

One panel of three judges will receive 20 stories and another panel of three different judges will receive 20 stories.

Each judge will rank the shortlisted stories for their selection in order of preference, assigning them a position, which will convert to points: 20 points (first place) to one point (last place). The judges will send their scores to Dimensions.

Dimensions will collate all the scores and stories into one final ranking of all 40 stories. The top 25 ranked stories will be the Coronavirus Learning Disability and Autism Leaders.

Stories won’t be anonymised

It’s important that the judges really get to know and understand the entrants. They will see photos, videos and other documents.

This means that the stories cannot be anonymous. However, the judges are under obligation to tell us about any conflicts of interest.

If they do not feel they can judge the story impartially they will be put in touch with a mediator judge.

The mediator judge will help make sure the stories are ranked fairly and appropriately.
