Volunteering FAQs
We offer a wide range of face-to-face and virtual volunteering opportunities from activity buddies to gardeners, drivers to nutrition support, and even video volunteers! We have long term volunteering opportunities as well as one off and ad-hoc volunteering opportunities. Please click here to see all the details of our current opportunities.
Anyone over the age of 16 years old can volunteer with us, depending on the service requirements. If you are aged 16-18 years we will require a parental consent form to be completed and returned to us.
We ask all volunteers to provide us with some photo ID and at least 1 character reference. Some of our opportunities require a DBS check to be carried out, but we will explain this process if the opportunity requires it.
Our virtual volunteering opportunities may differ slightly.
You will be asked to complete an application form by creating a volunteer profile on My Impact. Once we have received your application one of our Volunteering Officers will give you a call for an informal discussion. Following on from this call, you may be invited to meet with managers, colleagues and the people we support. After this we will start the onboarding process to carry out any necessary checks and look forward to you starting your volunteering with us!
Some of our volunteering opportunities are virtual and can be done from home.
Yes ! We welcome people coming to volunteer with us as a one off. We have had volunteers support us at some of our events as well as produce one-off videos for us, for example. We have also worked with groups of young people or employees to offer one off projects such as revamping a garden. Please click here to see our current opportunities. Can I volunteer from home?
Yes. Once a volunteer has been onboarded they will have access to our online Learning Connect training website. We ask all volunteers to complete our 4 essential training modules (Safeguarding, GDPR, Health and Safety, Fire Safety). However all volunteers are able to access the full range of courses that we offer via Learning Connect to allow them to grow their own knowledge and experience relating to the work we do. These courses are completely free for our volunteers and you will receive an internal certificate for selected courses.

We have worked with several companies to offer corporate volunteering – both face to face and virtual. We have enjoyed working with these companies to tap into their colleagues knowledge and passions and how this can have a positive impact on the people we support. We will always try and accommodate work experience where we can. Please contact us with what you are looking for and we will see how we can help!
