Autism friendly screenings adjustments
We’re thrilled to announce that after a challenging year, autism friendly cinema screenings are back!
There will be some covid adjustments in place, and these will be dependent on the cinema. But we are working with all our partners to help autism friendly screenings get back into cinemas.
We ask that you don’t move around the cinema while social distancing is in place.
It’s been a difficult year for the cinemas and they are just starting to settle back into being open, so we ask for your patience and understanding.
Autism friendly adjustments are designed to make the cinema more inclusive and accessible for people with sensory sensitivities, and others who can benefit.

Adjustments are guidelines we share with our partner cinemas and in our free training for other chains and independent cinemas. We encourage all cinemas to personalise their screenings to their audience and help guests feel welcome and comfortable.
Adjustments include
Our training helps cinema staff understand autism and how to help autistic guests really enjoy their cinema experience. It also lists the key adjustments needed for a performance to be labelled as ‘autism friendly.’ These include:
- Lights left on low
- Sound turned down
- No adverts or trailers
- Staff trained in autism understanding
- Disabled access
- Chill out zone, where available
- Bring your own food and drink
- Free entry for carers with a valid CEA Card, or other concessions made available
- Free social story template, download here
If you have any feedback about how autism friendly is handled at our partner cinemas: ODEON, Cineworld, Vue, Showcase, Picturehouse and Everyman, please contact us. Please speak with other cinemas directly.
